This is a great part of the Chugach State Park, The Center is an educational program and offers classes about Nature and the area. Lots of kid’s programs.

I have to tell you a quick story about being right in this spot with Harry, our previous 220-pound brown Newfoundland Dog. We were walking along the trail near the viewing platform since we heard there were several Grizzly Bears feeding on the returning salmon. The two Park Rangers stationed at the viewing platform (since there were bears around) came up to me and ask if I would please leave!

Not only leave the area but leave by a map they drew me that took me as far away from the Grizzly Bears as possible since they thought Harry might "agitate" the bears.

I dutifully complied but I thought the Park Rangers over-reacted a little.
