This Great Blue Heron lands at a little stony point. The flight feathers are flexed and the tail feathers spread nicely. Lovely big bird.

Having stopped for a final coffee break on the shores of Thirlmere, six figures appeared on the horizon, I started to track them as they flew inch’s above the water. The closer they got it was apparent they were about to land right in front of us. With the water looking like Glass It makes for a stunning sight.
