we all want our children to be like us in some small way. i wanted tracy to share my love punk bands and blue jeans.

really i don’t ask for much, from anyone, but i really hoped she would be a little, um is subversive the wrong word? yeah maybe, non-conformist? that’s better.

as her 12th birthday looms on the horizon, i realize that my daughter is still my best friend no matter how she turns out. 12. ah.

(side note: i am thrilled about her choice in bands and clothes though)
