The National Hurricane Center (part of the U.S. National Weather Service) has produced this map showing the probability of 39 miles per hour (60 km per hour) wind from hurricane Sandy.

The purple area is the area that there’s a 90% to 100% chance that it would encounter sustained 60 km per hour wind. The area includes eastern North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, southern New York, New York City, Long Island, Connecticut and Masssachusetts.

Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, and part of Pennsylvania will encounter hurricane force wind (119 km per hour or 74 miles per hour) later on Monday 2012-10-29.

pebble weather forecast watchface

This is a nice watchface, (in fact there are quite a few variants). The thing I most like is that as a cyclist I can see when rainfall is due (and temperature) over the next 24 hours. Using the pebble for a couple of months has been an interesting experience. On the downside, I sometimes let it run down by mistake (it lasts about 5-7 days on a charge), and it will complain if its is too far from the phone (that could be useful too of course). Worst is occasional corruption of the display. However plenty of advantages too, the ability to select the information displayed, and get updates, and because its not necessary to look at the phone so often it seems to extend the phone’s battery life. Incoming calls are useful too, as you can see who is calling you, and answer (or not) as appropriate. Pebble does not have a microphone in, but it does also work with a BT headset. SMS is also useful via the Pebble, since you can usually read the whole message. Notifications no longer make a sound, but in fact just vibrate the watch, useful.

forecast with extra yarn

I ran out of yarn at home over the break and had to make the sleeves 3/4 length. Last night I found the last ball of yarn, but I think I’ll keep the sleeves the way they are.

*edit: this was later frogged and made into a different Glampyre design that looked much better on me.
