Working with the client’s existing curtains and ho-hum colonial mantel, designer Layla Altman created a glamorous, colorful and sophisticated room for entertaining. A metallic glaze gives dimension to the fireplace wall. Clean-lined sofas, curvy chairs and modern circular mirrors set the swanky tone. Bright silk pillows pick up the glaze color on an antique garden seat used as a cocktail table, and an eye-catching magenta velvet bench invites conversation. Under it all is a virtually stain-proof area rug by Constantine.

Sometimes I like the studio-like pictures and sometimes I like the living room pictures where there is color from lamps, bookshelves, nick-knacks, etc. which is what this obviously is. She’s been posing a little more, and I’m trying to get her more used to the camera. She sniffed the lens the other day. This is in front of a window but I used flash bounced off the ceiling for reinforecment and ISO 800 to bring in the background. Winter is coming and the fur is growing. Just wait another two months.
