Cape of Good Hope

One of the major tourist attractions in the Cape of Good Hope reserve is Cape Point which offers visitors a excellent viewing opportunities from the two lighthouses that adorn the point – one still functional, informative interpretive signage that traces the cultural and natural history of the Point. The lighthouse is accessible by foot or you can catch the Flying Dutchman funicular to the top.

Cuba never let me remain content with my tourist simplicities. The kids I met whispered they would do anything to get out. Their parents, who had seen it all, sat in their rocking-chairs, swaying back and forth on their verandahs, remembering how privation and oppression during the Batista years had been replaced by oppression and privation under Fidel. In the dark nightclubs along La Rampa, the young couples I saw lived with more vibrancy and spirit than kids I had seen anywhere but if I asked, they told me that their lives were not unlike those of Dante’s Inferno.
