These are the main doors to Stanford Memorial Church – a future photo destination of mine! I haven’t had the chance yet to pop by during the hours it is open, but be assured that I will soon visit and return with some photographs of the architectural details within.

I wanted to capture someone walking through under the portico, but wait and wait and wait when you want someone in the frame and no one shows. People also have a tendency to avoid walking in front of a camera (usually a good tendency to have), especially when you want a silhouette in frame. I really like how the details in these up-lit buildings are pronounced in relation to their shadows during blue hour. This is one of the first photographs I took with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 – a really great lens!

there’s always a hope

When you lonely, I wish you Love,
When you down, I wish you Joy,
When things get complicated, I wish you Faith,
When things look empty, I wish you Hope!

Bearing the Lamp of Hope

Sculpture in the church of Our Lady Star of the Sea in the Solomons, MD. It depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary holding up a lamp of faith and hope, our beacon guiding us safely to Christ amid the stormy sea of life.

May she pray for us in these troubled times, for all refugees and persecuted Christians, and for the victims and mourners of violence, hatred and war, especially those who died on this day in 2001.
