Some of the scenes you see when flying in bad weather…well they just make you feel small and easily lost. A fitting image for All Hallows Eve, I thought…

A baby maple tree grows out of a space between the rocks and rubble from an old abandoned fjord on the river bank.

The water rushes by just a few feet away at normal pool and will cover the little tree by several feet two or three weeks out of the year.

But hope springs eternal in the new life of springtime.

God designed the trees, like He designed us, to "be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth." In His way, He broadcasts the seeds and the water carries them to new places. As Jesus taught in "the parable of the sower," some will fall on good soil, some will not.

Only God knows and only time will tell which ones will become strong, "like a tree planted by streams of water," and which ones will be beaten down and serve God in a different way- as fertilizer for another tree downstream.

As i look at this little baby tree, I do not really see much hope for its survival. Yet as I look down the bank, I see the multitude of others that have survived similar situations and are thriving. Yea verily even the "parents" of this little fellow had to endure the same hardships in order to survive.

All of this is to say that if there is something in your life (or mine) that seems overwhelming, just look around at God’s creation and see the marvelous accomplishments of even the grass of the field and know that your Heavenly Father loves you SO MUCH MORE than these.

Look around you at other people who have "made it" and think what they have overcome to get where they are today.

You can make it! You WILL make it!

Put your HOPE not in government and programs but rather in God and in your indomitable human spirit.

With God all things are possible. Even a tiny little seed growing in the most unlikely place can become a huge, strong tree and "it shall not be moved."
