New Delhi, India. October 2013. From the new balcony you see the full scope of renovations to Piccadilly Book Stall. Until this year, the huge selection of new and used spiritual books was packed into half the space on one floor, piled 3-deep floor to ceiling along aisles so narrow you had to go outside to turn around. Second-generation owner N.K. Chaudhary’s unfailing memory was the index to find books, but most of the collection of old books was hidden from browsing customers. So he expanded in the only direction possible — up. Now book lovers can browse (almost) the entire selection themselves.
